ODORLESS SELENIUM COMPOUND

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a selenium compound having no troublesome odor in use and usable for a selenizing reaction or the like, and a reagent for the selenizing reaction including the compound. SOLUTION: There are provided: a compound represented by general formula [1] (wherein R1is a 1-6C alkyl, 1-6C alkoxy, 6-14C aryl or 7-15C aralkyl; R2is a 6-14C divalent aromatic hydrocarbon group which may have a substituent; and Y is -Se-X, -SeX3or general formula [2], and X in each group of Y is a halogen and also R1and R2therein are the same as above), a reagent for selenizing reaction containing the above compound, and a reagent kit comprising the reagent and an oxidizing agent. There are also provided the methods using the above compound for reactions of selenization, selenolactonization and selenohydroxylation, and further the production methods for an α,β-unsaturated carbonyl compound, an α,β-epoxycarbonyl compound and an ether compound.
