Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detection mechanism, usable regardless of deterioration due to paper dust, and capable of detection of arrival and passage of a sheet, and detection of thickness of the sheet in compact and simple constitution. SOLUTION: A non-contact type electrostatic capacity type sensor 53 is disposed to face a conductor of a paper carrying guide. Detection of arrival and passage of paper and detection of paper thickness are enabled when paper passes through between the sensor and the conductor by changing detection precision of the sensor.
