When changing of the image density is operated at an operation section 110, an emission time period change notice signal SH is input to the LED head section 120 from the control section 100. Only when the emission time period change notice signal SH is input to the LED head section 120, the emission time period T is calculated according to the LED drive signal SLD, and then the image forming operation is carried out by the newest emission time period T (i.e., the identical emission time period T) on a line where the emission time period change notice signal SH is not input.
