IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent density irregularity in lines due to an error in an emission time period of an LED head when an image is formed by a unit of line in a printer having the LED head. SOLUTION: Print data (bit data) and a rectangular shaped LED drive signal SLD having a term the same as the emission time period T of the LED head 121 corresponding to the image density are transmitted to a print head section 120 from a control section 100 by each line, an emission control section 123 calculates the emission time period T according to the LED drive signal SLD, and then forming of an image is carried out by energizing the LEDs to be activated on the LED head 121 for the emission time period T according to the print data. When changing of the image density is operated at an operation section 110, an emission time period change notice signal SH is input to the LED head section 120 from the control section 100. Only when the emission time period change notice signal SH is input to the LED head section 120, the emission time period T is calculated according to the LED drive signal SLD, and then the image forming operation is carried out by the newest emission time period T (i.e., the identical emission time period T) on a line where the emission time period change notice signal SH is not input.
