EXHAUST EMISSION CONTROL DEVICE FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid the occurrence of abnormal combustion in an exhaust gas filter resulting from run out of gas during regenerating treatment. SOLUTION: This exhaust emission control device comprises the exhaust gas filter 14 provided in an exhaust system 12 for an internal combustion engine 11 for trapping particulates in exhaust gas, a regenerating treatment means 22 for increasing the temperature of the exhaust gas flowing into the exhaust gas filter 14 with fuel control when regenerating the exhaust gas filter 14 to execute the regenerating treatment of the exhaust gas filter 14, a remaining amount detecting means 17 for detecting the remaining amount of fuel in a fuel tank storing the fuel, and a regeneration prohibiting means 23 for prohibiting the operation of the regenerating treatment means 22 when the remaining amount of the fuel or a parameter value correlative to the remaining amount of the fuel is a prescribed reference value or smaller.
