Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shock absorbing member capable of increasing energy absorbing efficiency using a simple constitution. SOLUTION: The shock absorbing member is structured so that a first pad 2 and a second pad 3 formed rectangularly from a solid member having specified hardness and deformable are compressively installed overlapping in the load F input direction, and a projection 2a formed on the first pad 2 is inserted in and coupled with a fit-in part 3a formed in the second pad 3 in such a state as contacting with each other, whereby collision energy can be absorbed efficiently by the cooperation of the plastic deformation of the pads 2 and 3 themselves when a collision load F is inputted, with conversion into thermal energy to take place by the friction force fa between the projection 2a and the fit-in part 3a.
