Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluorescent lamp capable of reducing a quantity of enclosed mercury by providing a protection film capable of restraining mercury consumption without reducing lamp light flux. SOLUTION: The fluorescent lamp 1 is formed by enclosing mercury 2 and rare gas therein, and by successively laminating a protection layer 6 made of metal oxide particles and a phosphor layer 7 on the inner face of a glass bulb 3 to which electrodes 4 are fitted. A thickness of the protection layer 6 containing at least 50 wt% of silica is 0.5 to 5.0 μm, and a quantity of the mercury enclosed in the glass bulb 3 is 2.2 to 8.8 μg/cm3.
