Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a brake device capable of being used for preventing erroneous transfer in the transfer of a heavy article, and capable of being used as a free vibration generator of a base isolation device. SOLUTION: In this brake device 9, a fixing side grip metal fitting 43 and a grip jack 50 are fixed, a moving side grip metal fitting 44 is movably arranged between them, and a grip groove 53 fastening a strand 13 sliding on a surface where the fixing side grip metal fitting 43 and the moving side grip metal fitting 44 are confronted with each other is formed. When the heavy article 11 placed on a carrier 21 is transferred on an up/down slope 10 by use of the brake device 9, the PC strand 13 is stretched on the slope 10, the brake device 9 is mounted on one side of the carrier 21, and a transferring device 12 is mounted on the other side.
