Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical brightener as a size press liquid component effective as possible because paper tends to the surface-sized paper having high whiteness; and to provide a method for brightening the paper in the size press, a brightener preparation or the like by considering that the brightener having no defects in a conventional technique is desired. SOLUTION: The brightener preparation containing the brightener of formula I [wherein, substituents have the same meanings as in the specification] regulated so that the size press liquid may contain the brightener is used for brightening the paper.
