Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a weather-resistant inorganic protective and/or decorative layer capable of giving an optical impression and of being amenable to color change on a copper or copper alloy workpiece. SOLUTION: The method is used for forming an inorganic colored coating layer on the surface of a workpiece comprising a base material made of copper or a copper alloy by using a reactive chemical forming metal salt. In the method, while the surface of the base material of the workpiece is degreased, a preliminary oxide layer comprising an oxide of the base material is first formed on the surface.
