Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semiconductor storage device which can enhance error correction capability, shorten access time, and reduce or eliminate the redundant memory. SOLUTION: The semiconductor storage device has; a data input section 204 which transmits a main codeword made by dividing data of one page into four codewords and adding every four bytes of parity data generated for each codeword, to a bank (A) 201 or a bank (B) 202; a control circuit 207 which spreads out two dimensionally the page data including a plurality of main codewords added with check codes so as to include a plurality of sequences to be written in and reads recorded page data; and a data output section 205 which corrects error data in one page of read data including four main codewords MCW for every main codeword, when error data of equal to or less than the prescribed number exist, and transmits information and data representing correction status by adding error information for every lead main codeword MCW including parity PDs.
