OPTICAL WAVEGUIDE MANUFACTURING METHOD AND THE OPTICAL WAVEGUIDE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method with which a high-quality optical waveguide can be easily manufactured, and to provide the optical waveguide formed thereby. SOLUTION: The optical waveguide manufacturing method includes a forming step, in which a core layer 11 formed on a support base is cut in a prescribed shape, with the support base 10 left uncut and with the unnecessary parts of the cut core layer 11 removed; a coating step, in which the surface of the support base 10 and the core layer 11 are coated with material having a refractive index lower than that of the core layer 11; and a separating step, in which the support base 10 and the coating layer 12 are cut in the circumference of the core layer 11 precut in the prescribed shape and are then cut off dividedly by each core layer 11.
