Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a monitor wherein a video artist can make the video image quality the highest, the bit rate or the file size which are needed can be minimized, and a compressed image signal can be observed. SOLUTION: Compressed image signals are decomposed by a block parser 26 into a plurality of images and blocks of pixels which are shown by a bit sequence in each image. A bit counter 28 counts the bits in each bit sequence and generates the corresponding bit-counted value. A count color transformation apparatus 30 transforms the bit-counted value to the values of color and luminance which show the bit counted value.
