Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital television broadcast signal receiver capable of discriminating whether an antenna connected to the digital television broadcast signal receiver is a multidirectional antenna or a single directivity fixed antenna by measuring and comparing a level difference of signal reception strength between a maximum direction of the signal reception strength and the direction opposite to the maximum direction by 180 degrees so as to reduce a time required for determining channel selection. SOLUTION: The receiver alternately measures levels of each channel in a direction of a maximum signal reception strength level and a direction opposite to the maximum direction by 180 degrees among 16 reception directions at least twice or over, and when the levels are almost matched in each of the same directions and not matched between two directions, the receiver discriminates the presence of the multidirectional antenna, and when the levels between the direction of a maximum signal reception strength level and a direction opposite to the maximum direction by 180 degrees among 16 reception directions for a plurality of reception channels are almost matched, the receiver discriminates the absence of the multidirectional antenna and automatically displays a message denoting the presence/absence of the multidirectional antenna on a display apparatus.
