Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reflection type and semi-transmission type LCD which has a high aperture ratio and whose power consumption is low. SOLUTION: A 1st substrate 40 is equipped with TFTs as switching elements provided to each pixel. An auxiliary capacitor CSC is composed of an active layer 42 of a TFT, a silicon thin film 43 as a common layer, an auxiliary capacitance line formed by patterning a 1st metallic layer 46 laminated across a gate insulating film 44. An inter-layer insulating film 48 and a flattening insulating film 54 are laminated in order covering the auxiliary capacitance line 26. A reflecting layer 56 and a pixel electrode 28 are provided on the flattening insulating film 54. Consequently, the auxiliary capacitance line is not a disturbance to the aperture of a pixel in a reflection type area where the reflection layer 56 is formed and a transmission type area where the reflection layer 56 is not formed.
