METHOD FOR PRODUCING SEAMLESS STEEL PIPE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a seamless steel pipe less in both of roll-edge flaw and scale push-in flaw than the conventional one. SOLUTION: This method for producing the seamless steel pipe, by which, after reheating the steel pipe obtained by pipe-making through a plug-mill, with a reheating furnace, a reduced-rolling is performed with a reducing mill, is improved. Porous and thick oxidized scale developed on the outer surface of the steel pipe after reheating, is mechanically exfoliated and removed, and before again growing the oxidized scale to thick, the reduced-rolling is performed within a fixed time. In this case, it is desirable that the above fixed time is 2-3 min after the completion of the mechanical exfoliating and removing. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
