Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the electrification of a phosphor layer, and to improve a contrast while increasing the light emitting intensity of the phosphor layer. SOLUTION: This image display device is formed with the phosphor layer 8 formed on the inner face of a translucent face plate 2, a black matrix film 6 formed by sectioning the phosphor layer 8 into respective colors of the phosphor layers 8r, 8g and 8b on the inner face of the face plate 2, and an electron beam source 12 arranged to the phosphor layer 8 so as to face the phosphor layer and to emit an electron beam 13 to the phosphor layer 8, and by setting area share values of a black matrix film 6 viewed from the picture display side of the face plate 2 in a range of 60% to 95%, a contact area with respective colors of the phosphor layers 8r, 8g and 8b and the black matrix film 6 is made to be increased, and electrification caused by the irradiation of the electron beams 13 of respective colors of the phosphor layers 8r, 8g and 8b is suppressed. Furthermore, preferably by laminating a metal layer 7 on the surface of the black matrix film 6, the contact area with respective colors of the phosphor layers 8r, 8g and 8b and the metal layer 7 is made to be increased more, and the electrification caused by the irradiation of the electron beams 13 of respective colors of the phosphor layers 8r, 8g and 8b is furthermore suppressed.
