DATA COMPRESSING METHOD, RECORDING METHOD AND TRANSMITTING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data compressing method for selecting an optimal coding mode depending on a dynamic image, and to provide a method for performing coding in a selected coding mode and then recording or transmitting the encoded code. SOLUTION: In a device and/or method for encoding the dynamic image by performing predictive coding, interpolation coding, motion compensation, discrete cosine transform (DCT), adaptive coding, and variable length coding, an optimal coding mode is selected. In one device, values related to a video code corresponding to video data and total code amount of its encoded parameters are determined for each allowed coding mode, coding mode of the video data is selected on the basis of the code amount of each coding mode, and then encoding is performed using the coding mode.
