PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a Stirling refrigerator with a posted rod type displacer, having improved performance and efficiency by reducing its dead capacity. SOLUTION: The Stirling refrigerator 1A comprises a piston 4 and the displacer 5 fitted through a cylinder 3, a compression chamber 7 located between the piston 4 and the displacer 5 to constitute part of an operating space, a partition wall 31 for partitioning the compression chamber 7 into a piston side space 7a and a displacer side space 7b, including a communication hole 32 for communicating the piston side space 7a with the displacer side space 7b, a displacer rod 20 extending from part of the wall face of the partition wall 31 and having the front end connected to the displacer 5 via coil springs 22, 23, and a protrusion 51 provided on the end face of the displacer 5 at the side of the piston 4 so as to be inserted through the communication hole 32 during at least operation.
