OCCUPANT RESTRAINT MEANS STARTING DEVICE FOR VEHICLE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a restraint means starting device for detecting contact in an early stage and starting a restraint means in a vehicle equipped with a bumper capable of varying a protruding amount. SOLUTION: This restraint means starting device for starting the restraint means for restraining an occupant based on deceleration of the vehicle in collision with an obstacle is provided with a collision predicting means for predicting collision with the obstacle, a bumper protruding means for protruding a bumper from the vehicle body after receiving a collision predicting signal from the collision predicting means, a first deceleration sensor arranged on a movable part of the bumper protruding means and detecting information regarding the deceleration, and a deceleration processing means for processing the information regarding the deceleration detected by the deceleration sensor.
