REMOTE MONITOR APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a remote monitor apparatus capable of carrying out monitoring for following a motion without largely changing the configuration from that of conventional remote monitor apparatuses. SOLUTION: The remote monitor apparatus 100 for compressing digital image data outputted from a camera whose photographing direction is variable through frequency conversion and transmitting compressed digital image data includes: a DC component extract section 109 for extracting only a DC component from the compressed digital image data to produce a reduced image; a difference extract section 112 for generating a difference image on the basis of a difference by each pixel between a reference reduced image recorded in advance and the produced reduced image; a gravity center calculation section 114 for calculating the gravity center of the generated difference image; and a central processing unit 106 for moving the photographing direction of the camera in a direction of the gravity center. Thus, the remote monitor apparatus can recognize a moving direction of a moving object with less processing amount than that of prior arts and can carry out monitoring for following the motion without largely changing the conventional configuration.
