SURGICAL INSTRUMENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surgical instrument which can surely fix the posture of a surgically operating means, has an operation part with a simple constitution, and is excellent in operability. SOLUTION: The surgical instrument has a long instrument body 2, the surgically operating means such as, for example, a forceps mechanism disposed on its tip end, an operation part 9A disposed on the proximal end side of the instrument body 2, a transmission member 6 which is rotatably disposed in the instrument body 2 and is rotated by the operation at the operation part 9A, and a conversion means for converting the rotation of the transmission member 6 to an open-close or turning motion of the surgically operating means. The operation part 9A is equipped with an operation part body 90, a fixed handle 93, a movable handle 94 opening/closing (turning) relative to the fixed handle 93, an energizing member 944, a rotor driving member 943 of a circular arcuate shape provided on the end part opposite to the turning axis of the movable handle 94, and a rotor 931 which is connected to the proximal end of the transmission member 6 and is engaged to the rotor driving member 943.
