METHOD AND DEVICE WHICH CREATE FILTER TAP WEIGHT AND BIAS FOR SIGNAL-DEPENDENT BRANCH METRIC COMPUTING

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for discriminating a plurality of filter tap weights for a noise prediction filter used to create one or more signal-dependent branch metrics, or a bias (or both thereof). SOLUTION: The filter tap weight or the filter bias (or both thereof) are accumulated so as to be adaptable on possible data conditions respectively. The data condition for instance, can include each data pattern possible for predetermined data belonging lengths. The accumulated filter tap weight or a bias appropriate for update can be selected based on the data conditions related to the present reception data. The filter tap weight related with a tap of delay 0 can be suited to each filter criterion except a single normalization condition where corresponding tap of delay 0 is fixed.
