Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plated steel material having superior corrosion resistance at a formed part, by improving a highly corrosion-resistant steel material having a plated film containing added Al, Mg and Si, and to provide a painted steel sheet. SOLUTION: The hot-dip plated steel material has a Zn-alloy-plated layer on its surface, which comprises 4-22 mass% Al; 1-5 mass% Mg; 0.5 mass% or less Si; intermetallic compounds made of a Bravais lattice of which the spacing between lattice planes in one lattice direction is 2.57 angstrom to 3.15 angstrom and the spacing between lattice planes in another lattice direction is 3.64 angstrom to 4.46 angstrom; and the balance Zn with unavoidable impurities: wherein the plated layer on the plated steel material has a metallographic structure that contains an [Al phase] and a [Zn2Mg phase] coexisting in a matrix of a [ternary eutectic structure of Al/Zn/Zn2Mg], and that contains the intermetallic compounds made of a Bravais lattice in the [Al phase], of which the spacing between lattice planes in one lattice direction is 2.57 angstrom to 3.15 angstrom and the spacing between lattice planes in another lattice direction is 3.64 angstrom to 4.46 angstrom.
