SOLUTION: When a portable content player 1 is USB-connected to a host PC 101, control by a power control part 10, if an AC adapter 80 is connected, operates a hard disk drive 26 with AC adapter power Pa and sets a data transfer mode on an ATA bus 29 to Ultra DMA mode 4, or if the AC adapter 80 is disconnected, operates the hard disk drive 26 with USB power Pu and sets the data transfer mode on the ATA bus 29 to Multiword DMA mode 1.
