Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a line management method for a network whereby a higher-order layer can properly carry out line connection control in response to line faults while grasping all of line faults in a lower-order layer. SOLUTION: All of information items denoting a line fault state in the lower-order layer are expanded in a bit map form every time a line fault is detected in the lower-order layer and the results are collectively reported to the higher-order layer, and a line interruption request is given to the higher-order layer only when the lower-order layer detects a line fault of a preset type.
