METHOD FOR DOWNLOADING FIRMWARE OF PERIPHERAL DEVICE AND PERIPHERAL DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cause information set from a higher-level device to be succeeded even after downloading, using a method of downloading firmware from a higher-level device to a peripheral device. SOLUTION: The peripheral device includes an interface control part 12 for controlling interfacing with the higher-level device 1; a control part 11 that controls the peripheral device by executing the firmware; and nonvolatile storage parts 19, 27 that store information for the control part 11. The control part 11 receives the firmware from the higher-level device 1, causes information set to the peripheral device from the higher-level device 1 to be stored in the nonvolatile storage parts 19, 27, causes this set information stored in the nonvolatile storage parts 19, 27 to be read during the initialization of the peripheral device after the reception, and resets the information in the peripheral device.
