SOLUTION: A device 104 includes a first microprocessor core 102a for generating a first output signal, a second microprocessor core 102b for generating a second output signal, a lockstep logical circuit 106 connected between a switching fabric 108 having a first input/output port 112, the input/output port 112 of the switching fabric 108, and the first and second microprocessor cores 102a-102b for detecting whether or not the first output signal is different from the second output signal.
