POWER ASSIST BICYCLE WITH PHYSICAL FITNESS IMPROVING FUNCTIONS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power assist bicycle with physical fitness improving functions not only usable for a light moving of a rider but also usable as a stationary type training device for improving physical fitness of the rider by applying load to pedals in a stopping state. SOLUTION: A rotor shaft 61a of a power generation/electric motor 61 is connected to a transmission device M among a crankshaft 17 and rear wheels 10R. In a transmission path among the power generation/electric motor 61 and the rear wheels 10r, an arbitrarily openable/closable clutch 46 is interposed, and mode switching means 91, 92 and 99 capable of arbitrarily switching to a power assist mode for generating power in the power generation/electric motor 61 and a charging mode for charging generated power of the power generation/electric motor 61 by reverse load to the rotor shaft 61a in a battery 90 are provided. If the mode switching means is switched to the charging mode in a cut-off state of the clutch 46, a physical fitness improving training can be performed, while charging to the battery 90 from the power generation/electric motor 61 in a stationary state.
