Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image data compression method having a high compression efficiency, even if it is irreversible. SOLUTION: The image data compression method divides a digital image into the predetermined number of color planes to compress the image. Each of color planes is grouped into a feature pixel block 2 in which only pixels each having a pixel difference with an adjacent pixel exceeds a predetermined threshold are extracted as a feature pixel 1, and an auxiliary pixel block 4 in which the other pixels correlated to each feature pixel 1 are extracted as auxiliary pixels 3 in a certain searching direction.
