Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new manufacturing method for a phase difference film. SOLUTION: A birefringent layer is formed by irradiating at least one surface of polymer film showing birefringent property with polarized light so as to change the refractive index anisotropy of the polymer film, coating the surface of the polymer film which has been irradiated with the polarized light with a coating liquid containing a liquid crystalline compound so as to form a coating film, and performing heat-treatment to the coating film and orienting the liquid crystalline compound in accordance with the refractive index anisotropy of the polymer film.
