Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small-sized measuring instrument capable of measuring easily a double refraction in a pick-up optical system and a liquid crystal material, an angle of rotatory polarization in glucose in a living organism, or the like. SOLUTION: In this double refractive measuring instrument of the present invention, a nonreciprocal optical system is provided in a midway of a loop optical path of a ring interferometer, an orthogonal polarization mode is designed to propagate a measured sample to both directions, and a signal processing technique for an optical fiber gyro is applied to the ring interferometer.
