GROUND WATER CIRCULATION TYPE METHOD OF CLEANING CONTAMINATED SOIL BY USE OF HORIZONTAL WELL AND APPARATUS THEREFOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of cleaning contaminated soil permitting cleaning of underground contaminated soil, even under an existing building, while controlling variation of the level of ground water and ground subsidence, easy, precise and effective cleaning and inexpensive cleaning even in a case where areas of contaminated soil are scattered and requiring only a space allowing formation of vertical shafts on the ground. SOLUTION: The method comprises forming a vertical shaft 1 into the ground, forming a water-collecting horizontal well 2 and a condensed water horizontal well 3 for an underground contaminated soil area CA from the inside of the shaft 1, pumping ground water containing contaminants and incoming from the well 2 into the shaft 1 to clean with a cleaning apparatus 5 and returning the cleaned water to the area CA through the well 3 so as to circulate ground water and thereby cleaning the contaminated soil.
