PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable setting of area data on image data easily with a fewer number of work processes than before, save the trouble of creating a template for an OCR (thus improving working efficiency), prevent an operational mistake, and enable creation of area data for an OCR template of a constant level of accuracy without being affected by an operator's work experiences, etc. SOLUTION: When an area data is selected from one or more area data created on the image data displayed on a display 211 with a pointing device 207, etc. and a change instruction is given to the selected area data, a CPU 201 calculates an amount of change of the selected area data based on the resolution of the image data, and performs the area change to the selected area data from side to side and up and down based on the calculated amount of change.
