Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a catalyst which restrains the production of a high-boiling point hydrocarbon or a carbonaceous material and has excellent selectivity of gasoline fraction hydrocarbons, and to provide an alkylation method using this catalyst. SOLUTION: The zeolite catalyst for alkylating isoparaffin-olefin consists of beta-zeolite. The beta-zeolite contains cerium and the ratio ([Ce]/[Si]) of cerium atoms in the beta-zeolite to silicon atoms in the beta-zeolite is 0.001-0.05. The beta-zeolite is synthesized by a dry gelation method and has 0.01-1.0 μm average particle size. The method for alkylating isoparaffin-olefin comprises a step of bringing the zeolite catalyst into contact with such the mixture of isoparaffine and olefin that the ratio (Mip/Mo) of the molar number (Mip) of isoparaffin to that (Mo) of olefin is 2-50 at 25-150°C.
