Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a servo writer capable of obtaining an information recording medium having a servo band formed to enable accurate following of the recording/recording head of a drive. SOLUTION: This writer is provided with a write magnetic head 21 for recording a servo signal in a traveling magnetic tape MT to form a servo band, and a laser irradiating device 31 for cutting and aligning the edges of the traveling tape MT to form an edge in the magnetic tape MT so that the edges of the servo band and the magnetic tape MT become parallel to each other.
