TORQUE CONVERTER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrict deterioration of fluid operating performance of a torque converter, in regard to the torque converter improved in reduction of thickness of a truss. SOLUTION: The torque converter 1 for transmitting torque by using a fluid is provided with a front cover 14, an impeller 18, a turbine 19 and a stator 20. The impeller 18, the turbine 19 and the stator 20 form a truss-like fluid operation chamber 6. In the fluid operation chamber 6, thickness ratio (L/D1) as a ratio of axial length L to outer diameter D1 is 0.18 or less. A surface 22a of an impeller shell 22, to which an impeller blade 23 is fitted, has an impeller straight part 22b formed straight in a cross section thereof. A surface 25a of the turbine shell 25, to which a turbine blade 26 is fitted, has a turbine straight part 25b formed straight in a cross section thereof. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
