Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink cartridge which can surely close a hole formed in a plug member in the penetration of an injection needle in the injection of the ink, and an ink injection method for the ink cartridge. SOLUTION: This ink cartridge 3 is equipped with a cartridge body 20 for storing the ink, an injection hole 36 which is formed in the cartridge body 20 and which is used for injecting the ink into the cartridge body 20, and the plug member 37 with elasticity, which is pressed into the injection hole 36 so as to close the injection hole 36; a stepped part 36a is formed in the midway part of the injection hole 36; and the hole diameter of a back-side part of the injection hole 36 is set smaller than that of an inlet-side part by making the stepped part 36a serve as a boundary.
