Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a starter for a low power-consumption single-phase induction motor or the like. SOLUTION: The motor starter 1 includes: the motor 20 comprising a main winding M and a starting winding S; a PTC 30 connected in series to the starting winding S; a triac 40 connected between the PTC 30 and a power supply line; and a triac control circuit 50 connected to a gate terminal G of the triac 40. The triac control circuit 50 feeds a voltage that corresponds to a rush current at the start of the motor to the gate terminal G, and makes the triac 40 conductive at the start of the motor.
