Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide element structure for constituting a paper medium alternative display device which is thin, flexible, easily rewritable and does not required continuous energy supply from the outside at a low cost and a manufacturing method of the element. SOLUTION: The paper medium alternative display device by which deletion, re-recording and high speed recording are extremely easily performed since a rotational angle of a plane of polarization by a magnetic Faraday function is changed according to a pattern of magnetization recorded in a magnetic recording layer, a state in which an amount of light transmitting a second layer having a polarizing function is different is formed and contrast is generated. If character information, etc. are recorded as the pattern of magnetization to be recorded in a layer having a magnetic recording function, the magnetization pattern of a character is observed by visual inspection, visual recognition of a recording pattern is clearly performed by self-luminescence without requiring energy from the outside and a recording method is magnetic recording, is obtained.
