Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steel sheet for a can which has excellent aging properties and workability, and in which stretcher strain and the generation of the variation in the height of a can barrel are not generated at the time of being used as the stock for a deformed can, and to provide its production method. SOLUTION: In the method of producing a steel sheet for a can, a steel slab having a composition comprising, by mass, 0.05 to 0.10% C, ≤0.60% Mn and ≤0.10% Al, and in which the ratio of the Mn content to an S content, Mn/S is ≥30 is subjected to hot rolling and cold rolling, is next subjected to continuous annealing at a soaking temperature of ≥740°C, and is thereafter subjected to skinpass rolling at a draft of ≥2.0% to reduce its yield elongation to ≤0.5%.
