Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an industrially advantageous method for manufacturing lithium titanate having high tap density and excellent packing property. SOLUTION: In the method for manufacturing lithium titanate by drying and granulating slurry containing a titanium compound and a lithium compound and then heating and firing, the slurry is obtained by adding a titanium compound containing at least a titanate compound to a solvent liquid containing at least a lithium compound and preliminarily heated at 50°C. By the method, lithium titanate having desired tap density and packing property can be manufactured even when the concentration of the titanium compound is increased during manufacturing, and can be industrially advantageously manufactured.
