PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer having a platen roller as a conveyance means capable of improving assembling accuracy of components consisting of a drive transmission mechanism for driving the platen roller and a heat radiating function of a motor as a driving source, thereby reducing the printer in size and enlarging the output power thereof. SOLUTION: This printer comprises the platen roller for conveying a paper sheet, a print head disposed to be opposed to the platen roller, a driving unit for driving the platen roller, a main frame having a pair of side wall sections capable of pivotally supporting the platen roller. The driving unit consists of the motor, an intermediate gear for transferring the rotational driving force of the motor to the platen roller, and a gear attachment member having integrally attached thereto a gear support shaft for supporting the intermediate gear. The driving unit can be attached to the main frame in a condition that the motor and the intermediate gear are attached to the gear attachment member. The driving gear of the motor and the intermediate gear can be accommodated in a space formed by the gear attachment member and one side wall of the main frame. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
