Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which comparatively optimum balance can easily be selected in terms of the improvement of productivity and that of image quality, which are incompatible with each other. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus has a plurality of image quality retaining means for performing their respective image quality retaining processes which are not allowed during printing. The image forming apparatus is provided with an input means 160 which makes it possible to set all or some of the means by externally setting the timing of the image quality retaining process performed by each of the image quality retaining means.
