Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the manufacturing method of an optical fiber depolarizer capable of converting polarized light into non-polarized light by releasing the polarized state of light easily while performing depolarization to entire polarized states of incident light in an optical fiber whose length is short. SOLUTION: In this manufacturing method, polarized light is made incident on the optical fiber from one end of the optical fiber and ion implantation is performed to the core part of the optical fiber with respect to a plurality of prescribed positions from a plurality of prescribed directions respectively so that depolarization effects become the largest while observing the polarization degree of outgoing light from the other end of the optical fiber.
