INFORMATION RECORDER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information recorder for recording a file name a user has arbitrarily specified in a recording medium without changing the name. SOLUTION: The recorder comprises: a data read part 13 for retrieving, from a memory card 2, attributes of a file or a directory stored in a specified hierarchy to read it to a buffer 14; a file name retrieval part 15 for retrieving whether or not the one coincident with a designated name exists among names included in the attributes of the file or directory read by the data read part 13; a file name creation part 16 for creating an SFN name which comprises a name part of 8 bytes uniquely decided on the basis of the designated name and an extension part of 3 bytes when it is decided by the file name retrieval part 15 that the one coincident with the name does not exist; and a data write part 17 for writing a file or a directory to hold the file name creation part 16 and the designated name in a designated hierarchy.
