ABNORMALITY NOTIFICATION CONTROL IN DISK ARRAY DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently execute sparing, in a storage device storing a plurality of kinds of disk devices having different interfaces in a mixed state. SOLUTION: An FC disk device 220F having a fiber channel interface and an SATA disk device 220S having a serial interface are stored in a storage device casing in the mixed state. A controller performs the sparing to a prepared spare about the disk device wherein the number of errors in time of access exceeds a prescribed number. When the sparing is performed between the disk devices of different kinds, failure notification is immediately sent. When the sparing is performed between the disk devices of the same kinds, the failure notification is held. Thus, the spare can be effectively practically used by performing the sparing between the different kinds, and a load of maintenance can be reduced by controlling timing of the failure notification.
