Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To vary reluctance as required and to vary the property of the reluctance, in a permanent magnet embedded type synchronous machine. SOLUTION: The permanent magnet embedded type synchronous machine comprises a rotor 15 embedded with a permanent magnet 19, and a stator 14 arranged so as to surround the external periphery of the rotor. The external periphery of the rotor is regulated in a corn peripheral face shape, and the internal peripheral face of the stator is regulated in a corn peripheral face shape. The stator and the rotor face each other with a gap (air gap) 16 in between, and a can 20 that seals the rotor is arranged in the gap. A clearance of the gap between the stator and the rotor is varied by axially moving a rotating shaft 17, and the reluctance of a magnetic path reaching the stator from the rotor is varied.
