Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a saccharide-originated polyol which has excellent compatibility with various polyol components and has excellent reactivity and foaming suitability. SOLUTION: The method for producing the saccharide-originated polyol, comprising subjecting a saccharide such as starch and an alcohol to a liquidizing reaction in the presence of an acid catalyst, is characterized by using as the alcohol an alcohol which contains ≥30 mass % of a polyhydric alcohol represented by formula (I) [R1is a ≥2C aliphatic hydrocarbon skeleton or an aromatic hydrocarbon skeleton; R2is a ≥3C aliphatic hydrocarbon skeleton; (n) is an integer of ≥2; (x) is an integer of ≥1; (m) is the number of 1 to (n)], having a mol. wt. of 150 to 600, and having a hydroxy group value of 250 to 1,300 mgKOH/g.
