Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve color transfer in a color image forming device. SOLUTION: An operating voltage, for a split recharge image forming system having a plurality of image forming stations 130, 140, 150 and 160 separately equipped with a DC charge device (for example, 131) and an AC charge device (for example, 132), is determined. A combined target voltage level to be applied on a charge holding surface 105 in the midst of an image forming operation with the combination of the DC charge device and the AC charge device, etc., is determined on the basis of at least a determined DC grid operation voltage and at least one determined DC parameter. Further, the charging state, on the charge holding surface 105 in the midst of the image forming operation by the DC charge device and the AC charge device in the station, is measured for every image forming station. Whether or not the measured charging state is different from the target voltage level by exceeding the prescribed amount is discriminated for every station. Regarding the station discriminated as the one whose charging state exceeds the prescribed amount, the charging level for the AC charge device is adjusted in the station.
